“From day one this work experience was absolutely extraordinary! Each day we were taught by experienced scientists about their field of specialty.
From mass spectrometry, gas chromatography to genetics of mosaic skin disorders & DNA extraction. As a student who is interested in potentially studying biochemistry at university, I could not have found a better place to complete my work experience.

Not only was the institution and the quality of its facilities and teaching brilliant, but the food was delicious and the area beautiful, with a park just across the road where I often ate lunch and socialised with my team.
Therefore, I would wholeheartedly like to thank Generating Genius for offering me this fantastic opportunity, which I’m sure will look splendid on my UCAS application.

Out of the many experiments and activities we did, my personal favourites were extracting DNA from Kiwi, gel electrophoresis- which is used in forensics and finally presenting a scientific topic to a room full of scientists, which really helped to develop my confidence in public speaking. My topic was on the effects of chocolate on cardiometabolic disorders, which was very interesting. This activity also helped me to develop my research and time management skills, as we were given only a few days to prepare the presentation.

Following this work experience I will be going to do further work experience but this time at a hospital, so that I can see the application of the revolutionary treatments and research that this institution and many others like it publish.”
