Alumni Genius is a network of young STEM talent who have graduated from the Uni Genius (link to page) programme.
On Friday 6th of April 2018, a few of our year 12s had the chance to experience a day in the life of a UCL undergraduate. You start with a lecture- and in our case was on Spectroscopy in one of their impressive lecture halls that holds up to 300 students at a time! After the lecture comes a workshop, where the students were challenged to try and solve some undergraduate level chemistry problems. After a little break Dr Robert Palgrave gave us a little tour of the campus, and spoke to us a bit more about what makes UCL so special and the range of courses they could enrol in if interested. We ended up in their chemistry lab, where students had the chance to have practical sessions after their morning lecture. Being surrounded by researchers and academics really made you feel like you were part of something, which is what university is also about, being inspired and being part of the research that could change the world!
